Job descriptions SDAC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our growing team. This role will play a key role in all aspects of our financial operations, supporting the Controller and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and consolidation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) according to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) for the civil construction industry.
  • Assist with the month-end closing process, including account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and accrual preparation.
  • Manage accounts payable and
  • receivable, including processing invoices, payments, and collections.
  • Prepare and analyze project cost reports, identifying variances and cost overruns.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing financial data and analysis to support informed business decisions.
  • Prepare and manage internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial reporting accuracy.
  • Participate in external audits, providing necessary documentation and support to auditors.
  • Oversee the daily accounting operations, including payroll processing and general ledger maintenance.
  • May assist with tax preparation or interact with tax professionals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.
  • Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting principles.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
