RJ Lee Group, Inc. is currently seeking a Laboratory Facilities Manager at our office in Monroeville.  The Laboratory Facilities Manager will be responsible for upkeep, maintenance, safety and security of the RJ Lee Group facilities in Monroeville and Plum.  We are seeking an experienced, mechanical, analytical, and creatively inclined individual that can contribute to the success of the Company.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the buildings and grounds of the company.
  • Oversees contractors for facility renovation projects entailing HVAC, electrical systems, and building arrangement.
  • Determines and schedules repairs, renovation projects, waste reduction improvements and safety inspections.
  • Manages daily, weekly and annual maintenance and cleaning schedules.
  • Negotiates with outside vendors for supplies, repairs and other facility needs.
  • Oversees groundskeepers, maintenance workers, and custodial staff.
  • Assesses and oversees the current condition and functioning of building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, elevators, air conditioning, plumbing and other essential facilities and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records of the condition of the equipment and other systems in the building.
  • Manages company laboratory chemicals and hazardous waste management.
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures that affect the use of supplies,  facilities, safety and security.
  • Maintains an active campaign on safety and security measures in the facilities.
  • Manage the Safety Committee.  Conducts safety training and required safety assessments
  • Manages the workers' compensation program.
  • Creates monitoring systems or programs to detect problems as early as possible.
  • Initiate interventions to solve problems in the facilities.
  • Manages back-up or alternative systems for common problems such as power shortage.
  • Ensures the safety of the building or establishment from fire, flood and other hazards.
  • Coordinates all Laboratory Facilities Management functions with all company sites.
  • Familiar with IATA-DOT regulations for shipping and US EPA 40 CFR 261.33 for hazardous spills
  • Manages the handling of hazardous materials and waste disposal.
  • Familiarity with PA Department Dept. Labor, Safety Committee 

Qualifications and *Requirements: *

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience is required in laboratory facilities management, or an equivalent.  Bachelor's Degree is desired, but not required
  • Demonstrated managerial experience and abilities, as well as knowledge of purchasing, supplies, Laboratory facilities equipment repair.
  • Mechanical skills: must demonstrate the ability to take concepts and create experimental apparatus.  Creative thinking is required.
  • Analytical Skills: The Facilities Manager must be able to read drawings and blueprints and have the ability to quickly assess the situation and make decisions based on needs and budget concerns.
  • Regulatory knowledge:  Must be familiar with both State and Federal Government rules and regulations, such as OSHA, Dept. of Labor, etc.
  • Communication: The Facilities Manager must talk to the employees, and work with management to make sure the job gets done. Being able to clearly explain what needs to be done will be necessary.
  • Attention to Detail: Quality control is a large part of the Facilities Manager job. Making sure cleaning, upkeep and safety standards are maintained, or inefficiencies are discovered, is a key requirement.
  • Leadership Skills: The Facilities Manager must motivate and coordinate employees, as well as deal with any disciplinary issues that may come up.
