Penn Medicine Princeton Health is seeking a Registered OR Nurse for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Monroe, NJ. This is a full-time day shift opportunity and the ideal candidate will be able to work Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. This position comes with NO nights, holidays, weekend or call requirements. A background in orthopedics, total joints, endoscopy and/or pain management is essential.

The Monroe Ambulatory Surgery Center consists of 3 ORs. We're a small group that thrives on teamwork. All of our staff are cross-trained, and there is ample opportunity for advancement. Summary:

Registered Nurses are responsible for establishing a therapeutic relationship and an individualized plan of care with the patient for the Peri-operative period and for communicating that plan of care to his/her collaborative partners. Registered Nurses are accountable for planning, delivering, coordinating, evaluating, and modifying the patient’s care for that defined period of time. The Registered Nurses will effectively transition the plan of care with attention to continuity across shifts and settings. The Registered Nurse will assure communication between patients, families and all members of the health care team. The Registered Nurse delegates and functions in accordance with the NJ Board of Nursing Statutes and Regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Evidence Based Practice and Research: The nurse evaluates and integrates best current evidence with clinical expertise and patient and family preferences and values for the delivery of optimal health care and system effectiveness.

  • Leadership: The nurse effectively collaborates and applies innovative, systems thinking to engage in systematic, evidence- based problem solving and decision making to promote effective changes within a complex care delivery system supporting the vision of Penn Medicine

  • Person and Family Centered Care: The nurse recognizes the patient (or the patient’s designee) as the source of control and a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient’s preferences, values, and needs

  • Evaluates and considers the implementation of alternative approaches to establishing a healing environment and ensures the systems within the area of practice support patient- and family-centered care

  • Is able to speak to the patients about advanced care planning, values and end- of- life care before the need for an acute decision arises

  • Actively delivers constructive feedback to peers with the purpose of fostering the development and improving performance

  • Safety: The nurse minimizes risk of harm to patients, families, providers and self through system effectiveness and individual performance.

Credentials:

  • Registered Nurse - NJ (Required)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (Required)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification (Required)

  • CNOR (Preferred)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing or in pursuit of a BSN. Greater than 15 months professional nursing experience.

  • A registered nurse with an Associate’s Degree with greater than 5 years of clinical experience in a clinical specialty may be considered.

  • At least two years of operating room experience (Preferred)

  • Experience in both scrubbing and circulating is essential to this position
