The Director of EH&S will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for teams in Monro, NC to accomplish EH&S objectives while driving continuous improvement with program compliance and implementation.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)

  • Work across ATI with EH&S groups to share best practices and standardize processes/programs.

  • Manage EH&S team at multiple sites which includes performance management, development and coaching

  • Ensure that all operations comply with relevant legislation, company guidelines, standards and procedures.

  • Develop and communicate strategies around safety and environmental processes and programs.

  • Provide guidance and direction to leadership on strategies around EH&S objectives and vision to achieve business goals.

  • Create and drive a high engagement culture that empowers and motivates all employees to perform at their highest levels by establishing clear direction, stretch goals, providing necessary resources while driving accountability

  • Conduct trends analysis and reporting of results against key EH&S metrics to drive reduction in injury and illness rates

  • Take a leading role in planning, coordinating, monitoring and implementing EH&S policies and procedures.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of existing and proposed EH&S regulations mandated by federal and state organizations.

Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree, safety and/or environmental preferred or equivalent experience

Experience Required

  • 5+ years experience managing others

  • 7+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Proven experience of achieving targets in a dynamic production environment is required

  • Preferred

  • Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIP), OSHA 1910 General Industry 10-30-hour

  • Strong lean manufacturing/Continuous Improvement/Six Sigma experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities typically required to perform the essential functions of this job.

Knowledge of:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and Power Point at a minimum) required to accomplish day-to-day work activities and willingness to learn additional programs.

  • Sufficient knowledge of company, products, objectives and operations.

Skilled in:

  • Exceptional analytical, judgment, critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, customer focus skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management and prioritization skills.

Ability to:

  • Ability to communicate health and safety needs to all levels of the organization

  • Ability to successfully balance multiple projects at various stages with limited supervision in a fast-paced, competitive environment.

  • Ability to work independently as well as with and through others to achieved desired results.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and timely thru the implementation of long-term solutions.

  • Ability to effectively negotiate and resolve conflict.

  • Ability to foster teamwork, collaborations, inspire confidence, and motivate individuals across diverse teams in a manufacturing environment in order to meet objectives
