ProMedica Health System Radiology Technologist - Diagnostic Radiology - Full Time - Variable in Monroe, Michigan

$5,000 sign on bonus for external candidates only with a one year commitment to the organization

ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services in southern Michigan and Ohio. POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the radiologist, performs complex professional procedures for the diagnosis and treatments of patients. Obtains high quality images, which are interpreted by a radiologist in the evaluation of disease or abnormality. Assists radiologists or other staff physicians in the performance for diagnostic radiologic procedures whenever required.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Demonstrates knowledge and skills to utilize radiologic equipment, PACS, computerized imaging and the radiology info system. Select proper technical factors based on age, size, weight, and anatomical differences and general health status of various age groups. Utilizing proper radiation protection, accessory devices and age appropriate immobilizes to produce high quality radiographic images under the philosophy of A.L.A.R.A. Captures images by means of computed or digital radiography. Evaluates images for diagnostic quality. Under the direction of a physician demonstrates knowledge and ability to administer and document contrast and IV contrast according to standards for patients of all ages. Assists radiologist and physicians in the performance of diagnostic radiologic procedures with patients of all ages performing support functions. Demonstrates the ability and knowledge to identify educational needs, obtain patient history and provide information in easily understood terminology with clear communication style about procedures and care to patients of various ages. Determines appropriateness of procedure based on the above. Demonstrates competency in using the radiology information and imaging system (RIS, PACS, etc.) for the purpose of correctly ordering exams, supplies and other data input. Competent in the use of the following equipment and competent in physical comfort measures and psychosocial issues when giving care to include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Demonstrates awareness of safety standards for self and assigned area. Follows organization’s mission and values of customer service. Performs other related duties/tasks as assigned.

Education: Must have completed formal radiologic technology training at an AMA approved school. Skills: Must be able to maintain accurate records and adjust to use of new methods, techniques, and equipment. Must be able to cope with the stressful situations and handle deadlines in a demanding, fast paced medical environment. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from radiological or other medical equipment and computerized systems. License: Must be registered by the ARRT. If registry eligible, must pass registry within one year of accepting the position (see addendum); if performing in more than one modality and registry eligible, must pass registry within one year of accepting additional responsibilities (see addendum). Certification: Must be CPR certified

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to tolerate possible exposure to radiation and electrical hazards, bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluids; must be able to tolerate wearing heavy protective garments for extended period of time.
