DEPARTMENT: District Attorney

ENTRY SALARY:$25.58 per hour, plus benefits

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for conducting criminal investigations for the District Attorney's Office. Conducts case investigations; coordinates with law enforcement agencies; collects incident reports and prepares criminal history reports; prepares search warrants and open records requests; obtains certified convictions; prepares subpoenas; creates witness lists; interviews suspects, victims, and witness; investigates crime scenes; prepares evidence for use in court. Serves witness/victim subpoenas; transports victims to and from court; assists with indigent defense evaluations; assists with the presentation of evidence; coordinates witness for court; provides court room security. Conducts juror criminal and drivers' history investigations. Provides support for probation revocation cases; runs and analyzes criminal history reports; obtains reports of new arrests; obtains certified convictions. Responds to active crime scenes, major trauma cases, and/or high-profile crimes as required and when on-call. Completes required training. Monitors defendants released on bond with ankle monitoring requirements. Performs related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for five years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council for the State of Georgia.
