Continental Resources HSE Specialist (Drilling) in Monahans, Texas

Job Summary

The HSE Drilling Specialist is responsible for coordinating and supporting health and safety programs specifically related to drilling operations. This role ensures that all drilling activities comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. The HSE Drilling Specialist works closely with drilling teams, contractors, and management to promote a safe and environmentally responsible work environment, minimizing risk and enhancing operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HSE programs tailored to drilling operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of drilling sites to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

  • Provide training and guidance to drilling personnel on HSE policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Investigate incidents and near misses, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Collaborate with drilling teams, contractors, and management to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

  • Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics related to drilling activities, identifying trends and areas for improvement.

  • Ensure emergency response plans are in place and regularly tested to handle potential drilling-related incidents.

  • Stay current with industry developments and regulatory changes, advising management on potential impacts to drilling operations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or GED).

  • Minimum of two (2) years of E&P (or related H&S) experience.

  • Working knowledge and experience in Drilling operations.

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable MVR.

  • Ability to pass a respiratory fit test, if applicable to route/location.

  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge in Completions and Production operations

  • Relevant technical certification – CSP, CIH, CHMM, OHST, ASP

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stoop, stand, walk, pull, carry instruments, and climb stairs and ladders for an extended period.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.

  • Ability to work overhead for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to perform fine manipulations with hands and fingers.

  • Capable of driving distances of 150 miles or more per day during all types of weather conditions.

  • Ability to one arm carry up to 25lbs. without assistance.

  • Regular bending, crouching, pulling, and kneeling to check equipment and gauges.

  • Must be able to exert up to 50lbs. of force occasionally and up to 20lbs. frequently to move or manipulate objects.

  • Ability to work significant amounts of time in various weather conditions as required in completing job responsibilities.

  • Working environment includes potential exposure to loud noises in the field, hazardous chemicals, and hydrocarbons that may be under extreme pressure for which appropriate safety measures are required.
