JOB OVERVIEW:
The Plant Engineer serves as an essential member of the Plant Leadership team and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing improvement activities related to the plant\'s equipment modification and construction and its physical infrastructure. Continuous improvement projects will focus primarily on production, efficiency, safety, and quality. As the Plant Engineer, you will work closely with the Plant Maintenance Department, Plant Management, Plant Controller, Plant Safety Coordinator, Production Supervisors, Engineering Department, and the broader team, as appropriate, to identify proactive ways to improve the plant equipment and infrastructure. This position requires exceptional organizational and detail skills, a problem-solving approach, and a firm grasp of the production process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Improve performance of the plant\'s current production and position the plant for future opportunities through the advancement of new equipment, materials, techniques, and processes.
- Work with Plant Management to create and own the plant asset strategy, including the short, medium, and long-term capital needs.
- Work with the Plant Controller to provide justification and prioritize continuous improvement projects.
- Work closely with the Plant Maintenance team to ensure equipment maintenance meets the needs of long-term asset strategy.
- Identify, maintain, and dispose of capital equipment and work with the corporate finance team to appropriately account for assets.
- Ensure all new or modified equipment meets the proper safety standards. Collaborate with the Safety Department as needed.
- Lead all project-based contractor activities. Ensure all approved contractors are compliant with food safety guidelines and company safety policies.
- Complete and organize all PSM documentation for any projects associated with the refrigeration system
JOB EXPERIENCE
:
- 1-5 years of experience in plant engineering, project management, or similar role ideally in manufacturing or industrial settings preferred.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Project management skills
- Strong aptitude for identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing creative solutions to enhance production efficiency and safety.
- Experience with modern plant technologies, automation, or digital tools is highly valued.
- Process improvement tools and problems solving strategies such as PDCA, VSM, RCA, Six Sigma, etc.
- Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Exceptional organizational and detail skills
- Must be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Must be a problem-solver who uses good judgment
- AutoCAD skills preferred
- Tech savvy
- Inquisitive; hungry for wisdom and a quick learner
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent technical field preferred.
- Project management professional (PMP) certified preferred.
- Maintenance and reliability training a plus.
