General Information & Responsibilities

Recruits, enrolls and provides case management services for youth in the Training for Employment and Academic Mastery (TEAM) Program.

Position is primarily at the Outreach Center in East Moline, IL, but does occasionally work at the Adult Learning Center in Rock Island, IL

Description of Duties

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

a. Recruits and enrolls participants who meet the criteria for the TEAM Program.

b. Conducts intake interviews to explain the program and the eligibility certification process.

c. Works collaboratively with Adult Education instructors to coordinate an academic plan for participant.

d. Maintains confidential participant records and assists in completing reports.

e. Tracks participants to ensure timely and accurate reporting required by funding sources.

f. Assists participants in developing an individualized educational/career plan that identifies strengths and barriers.

g. Provides career advisement, career exploration, life skills training, short-term crisis intervention, and information and referral as appropriate.

h. Works with the Work-Based Learning Career Planner to coordinate job placement and work experience.

i. Provides guidance and training in job-seeking and job-keeping.

j. Develops and/or facilitates monthly workshops.

DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:

a. Assists in Optional Education classrooms when needed.

b. Represents BHC Adult Education Department at various agency and community meetings.

c. Maintains valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR.

d. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

b. Works directly with GED and High School Completion staff and faculty.

c. Works directly with TEAM program partners, community agencies and organizations, probation offices, and parents of participants.

d. Works cooperatively with all Adult Education Department staff and faculty.

e. Works cooperatively with all Black Hawk College staff and faculty.

Education & Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)

a. Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in human service or education required.

b. Minimum of one-year paid work experience required.

c. Ability to work with individuals from varying social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds essential required.

d. Education and experience related to working with at-risk youth preferred.

e. Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office required.

f. Ability to work occasional evenings required.

g. Strong oral and written communication skills required.

h. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to meetings required.
