Stratolaunch, LLC Production Planner in Mojave, California

Position Summary

Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.

Stratolaunch is developing hypersonic vehicles to support various Department of Defense and commercial applications. Stratolaunch seeks a Production Planner with 3-years of experience to help with schedule, financial, and subcontract management of the Talon Launch System. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in project management and project control methodologies common to the aerospace industry.

As the Production Planner, you will work with the Program Management Office and will contribute to management of the Stratolaunch projects through development and tracking of resource-loaded schedules. You are responsible for working with all aspects of the associated projects, including planning various aspects of the design, development, manufacture, and testing phases. You will coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, and procurement to ensure all information, tools, resources, and materials are in place in order to meet the program schedule. You will also assist with the development and maintenance of program cost forecasts and help develop scenarios based on schedule updates. You will analyze spending, track material delivery dates, help forecast future headcount, and contribute to risk analysis to develop mitigations for variances. You will work with the Stratolaunch finance department and other program management within the Talon Launch System, and participate in periodic status reviews, as needed.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Plans and determines the most efficient method of achieving program objectives within the framework of technical capabilities.

  • Track and monitor purchased material for assigned projects.

  • Identify critical parts and critical path assemblies to the scheduled delivery dates.

  • Execute planning and control processes through manufacturing and test to ensure timely delivery of equipment to customer.

  • Coordinate and expedite flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between departments.

  • Perform complex expediting and record keeping functions with current information on the location and progress of manufactured parts and assemblies.

  • Release kits to production floor with proper travelers, operation sheets and documentation.

  • Host meetings on status of programs regarding schedule with PM, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality.

  • Report and resolve any problems or difficulties impacting the on-time delivery of jobs.

  • Compile and maintain manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in process production reports and status and location of materials.

  • Maintain a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.

  • Assist with procurement of equipment, parts, supplies as needed.

  • Analyze data and draw conclusions to make recommendations and prepare/present reports to Program Manager and other stakeholders.

  • Provide technical assistance support to projects as defined by the Program Manager.

  • Provide project direction to internal staff and third party resources.

  • Responsible for generating, interpreting, and presenting various assigned reports.

  • Ensure technical documentation is properly reviewed and maintained and made available in a timely manner.

  • Measure, track progress and coordinate implementation of the improvement plan.

  • Serve as liaison for projects across internal and external stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement methods and tools by which to organize, standardize, and manage production activities.

Required

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, one or more of these disciplines: project management, finance, accounting, operations management, subcontracts and procurement, personnel management, aircraft/launch vehicle development or aircraft/launch vehicle operations

  • Strong organizational skills an ability to manage large amounts of data compiled from multiple sources

  • Ability to develop and analyze data, and present findings to management

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and ability to implement sound critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work on their own initiative and prioritize tasking to fit within the business goals

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities

Preferred

  • Experience with program financial analysis, including variance analysis and developing forecasts

  • Experience and understanding of various tools and techniques associated with cost/schedule management to include Earned Value Management tools and processes

  • Experience with program risk management processes

  • Experience with aircraft and/or launch vehicle integration

  • Experience with prototype manufacturing or low-rate production

  • Experience with government agencies

  • Experience with classified programs and working in a classified environment

Education/experience/certifications

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Science (BS) or higher in a Business Management/Business Administration and/or Engineering discipline from an accredited institution and 3-plus years of relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Travel estimated to be approximately 5%

  • Position is based in Mojave, CA

Benefits and our location:

  • Level I: $51,500 - $75,000

  • Level II: $58,000 - $94,000

  • Relocation eligible to local area – Mojave, CA

Mojave Air & Spaceport is located 95 miles north of Los Angeles.
