Join Our Team: Staff Counsel

Are you a legal professional looking for an exciting opportunity to grow and make a significant impact? We are on the hunt for a dynamic Staff Counsel to join our legal department. In this role, you will provide crucial support to senior counsel and work collaboratively with management and outside legal counsel. You'll be at the forefront of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a diverse range of commercial contracts, including those for the procurement of goods and services, IT contracts, software licenses, real estate transactions, and other transactional projects.

What You Will Do:

  • Take the lead in negotiating, researching, reviewing, drafting, and advising on various commercial, IT, software licensing contracts, and real estate transactions.

  • Develop and demonstrate expertise in laws, regulations, and practices within your areas of responsibility to provide effective legal advice, draft and review agreements, and perform other legal functions as assigned.

  • Play a crucial role in understanding and monitoring compliance with applicable regulations, consulting with, supervising, and managing outside counsel as needed.

  • Develop, revise, and conduct legal training programs for business personnel, fostering cooperative and effective working relationships with business management and staff.

  • Stay informed of industry-specific regulations and ensure that appropriate risk management strategies are in place.

    What You Will Need:

  • A Juris Doctorate plus 4 years of experience to include general and transactional legal practice, and complex contract drafting and negotiation experience, reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Required to travel when necessary.

  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

    What Will Set You Apart:

  • A Juris Doctorate plus 6 years of experience to include general and transactional legal practice, and complex contract drafting and negotiation experience, reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

  • 5 years of experience representing business clients in a sophisticated law firm and/or in-house practice.

  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts for the procurement of good and services, IT contracts, software licensing agreements and/or contracts for real estate transactions.

  • Demonstrates strong analytical and critical thinking skills and business acumen.

  • Demonstrates flexibility and success working in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment.

  • Experience that demonstrates negotiation skills and ability to influence and leverage relationships.

  • Experience working as a team player and striving for building consensus.

  • Able to effectively organize time in order to meet deadlines.

  • Skilled at handling multiple projects with a sense of urgency.

  • Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills.

  • California State Bar member.

Compensation:

  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: $157,800 - $236,800 + 10% performance bonus

  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
