Overview
The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems within commercial, residential, or industrial settings. This role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all systems operate efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and a thorough understanding of HVAC systems and their components.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00/hr
The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on the applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
401(k) – You become eligible to make personal contributions beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment. You become eligible for the ABM match beginning the first of the month following six months of employment. ABM matches your pre-tax and/or Roth contributions, dollar for dollar, for the first 3%. For the next 2%, ABM contributes $0.50 for each dollar you contribute. Your contributions and match are immediately vested.

Key Responsibilities:
Installation: Install new heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, including ductwork, piping, and wiring according to specifications and safety standards.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems, including cleaning and replacing air filters, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting ductwork, and ensuring proper system operation.
Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in HVAC systems, identify solutions, and repair or replace malfunctioning components such as compressors, fans, and thermostats.
System Upgrades: Recommend and implement energy-efficient upgrades and improvements to HVAC systems to enhance performance and reduce operational costs.
Compliance: Ensure all HVAC installations and repairs meet industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA guidelines for refrigerants.
Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients to explain repairs, provide cost estimates, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of services provided, including work performed, parts used, and any necessary follow-up maintenance.
Emergency Response: Be available for emergency repair services during off-hours or on-call shifts as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of a recognized HVAC training program or apprenticeship preferred.
Experience: 2+ years of experience as an HVAC Technician, with expertise in troubleshooting and repairing heating and cooling systems.
Licenses/Certifications:
EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants (required).
HVAC certification or journeyman license (preferred).
Skills:
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including heat pumps, furnaces, air conditioners, and refrigeration units.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
Proficient in using tools such as multimeters, pressure gauges, and leak detectors.
Strong troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
Working Environment:
Work in various environments, including rooftops, mechanical rooms, or tight spaces, with exposure to hot or cold temperatures depending on the season.
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
Frequent standing, bending, and climbing.
