AltaPointe Health Systems Assistant Coordinator, After School Day Treatment in Mobile, Alabama

  • Assesses functioning of clinical services, identifying problems and solutions

  • Leads the program’s clinical services planning, development and implementation

  • Leads treatment team meetings & staffing meetings for After School Day Treatment Program

  • Works collaboratively with the RN Coordinator to ensure effective milieu management

  • Develops systems and continuum of care according to consumers’ needs

  • Assures that program standards and objectives are met for After School Day Treatment Program w/out Education

  • Assigns and monitors case loads and productivity of clinical and case management staff

  • Provides staff coverage for crisis intervention

  • Maintains minimal case load when necessitated

  • Stands in as Acute Program Coordinator during times of leave, illness or vacation

  • Ensures that staff provides quality services – individual, group and family counseling

  • Serves as a clinical liaison to Behavioral Aides, Case Managers, RN Coordinator and Therapists

  • Maintains, adjusts and oversees the program schedule to maximize consumer engagement and quality of care

  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation

  • Applies seclusion and restraint according to Policy and Procedures

  • Takes calls from staff about emergencies or critical issues after normal work hours and on weekends; makes weekend rounds for BayPointe facility while on call. Participate in the Administrator on Call rotation for the Transitional Age Group Homes.

  • Effectively collaborates with the treatment team members and outside sources in the delivery of clinical services

  • Monitors contracts, budgets, LOS, and ADC for maximization of revenues

  • Acts as a liaison with MCPSS’ Teachers and Resource Teachers

  • Works collaboratively with the MCPSS Principals and Acute Program Coordinator to facilitate admissions to the program

  • Oversees the referrals of consumers and monitors program census

  • Conducts on-site observations of referrals to assess appropriateness for admission to program

  • Develops programming and facilitates continuous treatment of consumers during times MCPSS is not in operations

  • Ensures that program staff are appropriately trained and utilized to meet facility needs

  • Adheres to professional code of ethics

  • Effectively demonstrates the application of child/adolescent specific competencies

Personnel functions:

  • Interviews and screens applicants when necessary and completes appropriate forms as outlined by personnel policies and procedures

  • Provides training in the general orientation of the facility, policies and procedures, program operations, specific skills area, and record keeping

  • Is knowledgeable and applies personnel policies and procedures on a consistent basis

  • Provides staff with consultation and supervision as needed, individually or through group staff meetings

  • Ensures competence of staff

  • Objectively completes employee performance evaluations on supervised staff

  • Promotes concept of treatment teams. Acts as a member of treatment team

  • Provides positive and effective leadership

Master degree in a mental health discipline with at least two years of postmaster experience

Case management certification is required within 6 months of employment

Physical Requirements:

  • There is frequent standing, sitting, and walking which are in bursts of 5 to 10 minutes. However, there are times when this can be extended to pacing with the consumer (time could be undetermined), and at times sitting and standing can be extended with the employee having the ability to change positions as permitted by the observance and behavior of the consumer at that time.

  • There is occasional forward bending from the hips while kneeling to reach to the side.

  • There is an occasional need to be able to assume a full squat/lunge from a standing position.

  • There is an occasional need to maintain back extension while being on stomach with one’s own body weight on hips and legs. This position is maintained for several minutes.

  • Occasionally, be able to put one’s own body weight on one knee and one elbow on the same side of one’s body.

  • Occasionally, be able to kneel and reach to same side toward the floor.

  • Lift up to 15 pounds from the floor to various levels, including from floor to overhead occasionally during shift.

  • Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds to assist in activities of daily living, as required. Be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.

  • Strong grasp is needed to use keys to open doors throughout the facility, and to maintain constant contact with a consumer during a restraint procedure or with other hold techniques.

  • Pushing/pulling force up to 25 pounds occasionally during shift.

  • At times, be able to ambulate in a quick manner (jog/run) for distances up to 50 feet.

  • Carrying up to 15 pounds various distances throughout the facility.

  • Occasional step ladder climbing to retrieve medical records that are on higher shelves.

  • Fine manipulation/dexterity to handle medical records and complete documentation.

  • At times therapy may be inside or outside the facility; therefore, some activities will dictate physical requirements for playing or games.
