Thompson Engineering is looking for an Accounting intern in our Mobile, AL office. The position is a part-time paid internship that serves as a support employee within the Finance and Accounting department of Thompson Holdings, Inc. This position will work mostly with the Director of Project Accounting and related project accounting team members. Position will interface with financial accounting team for some duties. Internship is an hourly paid position ranging from $15 to $17 per hour and 15 to 20 hours per week. Hours are flexible within Monday through Friday work week

DUTIES

• Shadow members of the Accounting department as they perform their duties.

• Work in tandem with Finance and Accounting staff to ensure accurate reports can be produced for internal publication to appropriate personnel.

• Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records

• Perform periodic inquiries in accounting software and compile results in Microsoft Office products including but not limited to Excel.

• Handle sensitive information with honesty and integrity.

• Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations.

• F ollowing company policies and procedures regarding safety and quality.

• Other duties as required.

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Minimum Requirements

• Must be a recent graduate or actively working towards a Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting.

• Proficiency with computers particularly knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel and somewhat knowledgeable in Microsoft PowerPoint.

• Ability to perform mathematical computations accurately and quickly

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.

• Motivation and strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible.

  Physical Requirements

• Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.

• Frequently bend to file and maintain files .

• Occasionally lift 5-10 pounds
