Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Strategist located within the Greater Toronto Area to join our practice. Strategy+ is AECOM’s design-led management consulting studio that operates at the intersection of Business Transformation, Organizational Dynamics and Place Strategy. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable blurring the lines between strategy, business, people and the built environment, qualitative and quantitative data, is a strong communicator, is comfortable tackling diverse projects across differing industries, is highly motivated, engagingly collaborative and possesses outstanding analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

You will join our multidisciplinary team of talented strategists, organizational designers, change managers, architects, data analysts, organizational psychologists, planners, and designers to support projects which encompass world class corporations, agencies, institutions, universities & colleges, and local and federal government.

Once You Are Here You Will

  • Generate new opportunities by thinking creatively about financial and operational impacts, risks, experiments, data and other drivers

  • Be creative by bringing a new lens and angle to improve best practices.

  • Be comfortable with ambiguity by collaborating with other strategists to hack together new approaches that live at the intersection of multiple disciplines

  • Explore how approaches commonly adopted by corporate strategy and design might inform value creation for our clients

  • Inspire specialists, architects and engineers through business, strategy and design practices to think and act differently

  • Work closely with clients through user research, visualize qualitative and quantitative data, and facilitate workshops to optimize new operational or business processes.

About You

A T-shaped individual who asks thought-provoking questions, is comfortable wading into ambiguous problems and can take ownership, is a critical thinker, and has specialized experience in one or more of the following areas and possesses a broader comfort and ability to work within many of these areas:

  • Management consulting and / or corporate strategy

  • Data analytics & statistical modeling

  • Communications strategy, branding and marketing

  • Stakeholder engagement, workflow mapping, and scenario development, capital planning.

  • Digital transformation, operational prioritization, basic operational architecture, and implementation roadmaps.

  • Change management, people operations, organizational design & development

  • User research, synthesis of qualitative data and generating insights

  • Design background in architecture, urban planning, space programming, and interiors

You’re comfortable and ready to hit the ground running as soon as you get here and are:

  • Highly collaborative, communicative and a creative team player

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, open, and creative environment

  • Able to contribute to the facilitation of workshops and presentations

  • A graphical and visual organizer able to present the story behind the data

  • A critical thinker with persuasive writing skills

  • Familiar with research methodologies and processes (Survey development,

  • Flexible and able to work on more than one project in more than one team

Technically, you are skilled in one or more of the following

  • Data analytics and visualization (Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, SQL, or SPSS)

  • Graphic-based software (Adobe CS, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign)

  • Design and planning software (Revit, Autocad, Bluebeam, GIS, or Figma)

  • Research software (Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, Google forms, or NVivo)

  • Collaborative platforms (Miro or Mural)

  • Using AI software to assist with content generation and research methodologies ChatGPT, MidJourney

  • Microsoft Office (specifically Word and PowerPoint)

  • Project management, planning, and scheduling

  • Design-thinking, Lean/Agile or Prosci certified (or planning to become certified)

  • Business model generation and business case development

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a minimum:

  • No less than a Bachelor’s Degree in business, analytics, computer science, architecture, urban planning, design, or another relevant field + two (2) years of experience

Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.

Preferred Requirements

It would be a bonus if you are:

  • Experienced in entrepreneurship, team / practice building within large consulting firms / organizations

  • Skilled in graphic design and visual communication

  • Experienced in infrastructure / the built environment

  • Have been a part of digital transformation

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $63,000.00 - $81,000.00.
