Job Description:

This is a critical role withing Enterprise Hosting Platform team responsible for capacity analysis, planning and adjustments. This individual will attend Design Governance Committee meetings and to advise on proposed capacity requirements based on technical and business needs. In this role you also will be reviewing and approving capacity adjustments requests. Capacity Analyst will also

Technical Skills and Experience:

• VMware expertise: proficiency in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter and vRealize Operations for capacity planning, including understanding of virtualization concepts and management tools. Experience is creating and managing Dashboards and reports in vRealize Operations

• Cloud Computing Concept: understanding Infrastructure as a Service and cloud architecture; familiarity with OpenStack is a plus

• Storage and Networking: Knowledge of vSAN, SAN, iSCSI and NFS storage protocols, as well as networking principles such as switching and routing and applicable Vmware concepts like vSwitches, and VLANs

• Capacity Planning and Management: Experience with capacity planning tools to predict CPU, Memory, network and storage needs, and perform what-if scenario modeling to optimize resource allocation. Experience with collecting performance and capacity metrics for different operating systems (Windows, RedHat), databases (MS SQL) and middleware.

• Data analysis: Ability to analyze historical utilization and apply statistical models to forecast future workloads and resource needs

• Performance monitoring: skills in monitoring virtual machines performance to identify bottlenecks and optimize VM placement and resource usage.

• Troubleshooting: strong problem-solving skills to address issues related to VM performance, storage and network. Experience with applying performance and capacity best practices to infrastructure and application design.

• Scripting and Automation: ability to use scripting languages such as PowerShell and PowerCLI for automation; experience with Ansible is beneficial

• Database experience: DBA experience or at least SQL Query language experience

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

• Reporting: Proficiency in creating detailed reports and dashboards (using vRealize Operations and other tools) to communicate capacity status and recommendations to stakeholders

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with different technical towers (storage, network, compute, databases etc) to align capacity planning with business needs and strategic goals.

Certification:

  • Vmware Data Center Virtualization or Cloud Management and Automation – highly desired

  • Oracel DBA – a plus
