Citigroup Lead Java Developer in Mississauga, Ontario
Position Overview:
This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to work within the Equities Technology group and work closely with a front-office business unit and established technology teams to develop our strategically important platform.
The Equities business has set an ambitious growth plan, and strong technical development is critical to achieving our goals and enhancing our leading position in the financial market. The successful candidate will play a key role in that success. This is a fast paced, challenging team of highly experienced technologists and you will be expected to have strong prior front office experience.
This position involves:
Requirements analysis and capture, working closely with the business users and other technology teams to define solutions, develop low latency and high frequency solution using Citi’s RTCS Platform
What you need:
Extensive experience in building applications delivered on cloud-based services in a disruptive environment. Experience in micro services architecture-based application development for high volume complex finance applications. Deep knowledge of best practices on distributed architecture, event-based and reactive programming.
A good understanding of polyglot microservice development. A good understanding of Java / JVM internals, micro service design and protocols and streaming technologies. This role would suit a Developer who would like to increase and diversify their skillset with additional business knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:
Owns the ongoing product roadmaps and architecture, according to business strategies and enterprise architecture
Collaborates with the broader architecture community to ensure that their products align with target architectures and technology roadmaps and provides input on required platform capabilities and improving development tools/processes
Works with other product teams, technology experts, and business stakeholders to provide functional support
Assists in the evaluation of vendors and products and participates in build vs. buy discussions with the product teams
Acts as highest-level technical expert, resolving issues, assessing any potential risks and identifying solutions
Provides technical guidance to product team(s) as appropriate
Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects
Assists in the development of and management of architecture governance process(es)
Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies
Prepares and presents product-related documentation
Mentors less experienced crew members and contributes to overall development of the organization
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Provide post release assistance to business, development, and support groups
Develop application as per best practice and remain compliant with prescribed best practices (TDD, maintain high unit test coverage, CI/CD).

Knowledge/Experience:
Strong understanding of Java 8/11/17 + Spring stack for microservice development and a demonstrable understanding of Java internals (JIT, advanced debugging scenarios, JVM memory management etc.)
Deep understanding of cloud design patterns, Cloud Native Architecture and principles, cloud operations and cloud security models
Experience of NoSQL / RDBMS
Good knowledge of designing application with Low-latency and reactive would-be a plus
Understanding of memory-map file and GC free programming is an advantage.
Solid understanding of REST API development, ideally on Spring Boot & Security Experience with the design and implementation of cloud-ready applications and deployment via Kubernetes / Open shift
Experience working on a Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) environment. Familiarity with tools such as Jenkins, BlackDuck , Sonarqube, Diffblue etc.
Experience with the SDLC lifecycle and working within an Agile environment Demonstrable understanding and experience of engineering best practices: design patterns, coding standard, code review, unit testing via Mockito and Junit
Qualifications:
10-12 years experience in Apps Development or systems analysis role
Extensive experience system analysis and in programming of software applications
Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one area of Applications Development
Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Master’s degree preferred.
