What to Expect:

We are looking for a for a Distribution Centre Operations Supervisor , reporting to the Distribution Centre Manager, the incumbent will supervise all aspects of the DC Operations Department including scheduling, coaching, and training warehouse personnel. You will use your coaching skills to develop a culture of trust and to cultivate the best by inspiring, challenging and promoting our workforce. Leading by example, you will promote and ensure the Health & Safety of all operators, and compliance with all good manufacturing practices and Food Safety programs. It is required to work closely with the Distribution Center team (purchasing supervisor, business coordinator, inventory specialist, planning lead) to manage inventory levels and variances, marinating high customer service and efficiency levels, it requires flexibility to provide coverage for vacations and sick leaves.

A day in the life:

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment and safety-oriented culture.

  • Delivers effective training and performance management of Warehouse employees.

  • Monitors all administration control for all shipping and receiving activities.

  • Monitors inventory accuracy and maintain “First In First Out” adherence.

  • Supervises the movement of all goods. Externally includes carrier selection, load planning, and cost/benefit analysis. Internally includes space planning, equipment and resource management.

  • Establishes and maintain good working relationships with Distribution Centres, Logistics, carriers and suppliers.

  • Responsible for coordinating with all Departments to maximize overall effectiveness and efficiency of the operation.

  • Initiates process improvements by coaching the warehouse group to identify potential savings and assist with their implementation.

  • Responsible for ensuring the allocation of regular and overtime hours, and appropriate vacation coverage.

  • Responsible for all investigations and root cause analysis related to warehouse incidents.

  • Responsible for bi-weekly payroll for union employees, while adhering to the collective agreement.

  • Undertakes other functions as required.

Role Requirements

  • A minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience as a supervisor in warehouse operations, preferably within a unionized environment.

  • Experienced in being able to identify root cause and implement corrective actions for all safety related matters.

  • Be available for Night Shift from Sunday to Thursday

Preferred Skills

  • Completion of Community College Diploma or University Degree in a related field is preferred.

  • Strong computer skills, with working knowledge of warehouse systems and SAP highly desired, also intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Power point is preferred.

  • Payroll Kronos experience is preferred.

  • Must be able to respond to changing demands with short notice and be proactive in managing the needs of operation.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and leadership skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills are required to excel at working within a team environment.

  • The successful candidate is a creative thinker with strong analytical and organization skills. They will be able to work independently and cope with conflicting demands in short time periods.

  • Able to anticipate challenges and opportunities with proactive behaviour.
