Description:

The EKG Tech performs all diagnostic EKG procedures and holter applications. Performs all duties related to record transcription and record delivery to proper areas.

JOB DUTIES

  1. Actively demonstrates the organization’s mission and core values, and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values.

  2. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information.

  3. Performs EKG’s in a timely and efficient manner.

  4. Demonstrates age specific competencies.

  5. Uses a magnet for pacemaker detection.

  6. Obtains necessary data and orders for patient testing.

  7. Maintains skills to recognize abnormalities in EKG tracings and reports critical abnormalities to physician.

  8. Applies holter monitor using proper skin preparation technique. Transcribes all interpretation of EKG’s and holters.

  9. Cleans all equipment utilizing proper infection control and safety measures routinely.

  10. Responsible for record delivery to proper areas.

  11. Seeks input from cardiologists to enhance technical skills.

  12. Works closely with other departments to provide efficient service to all patients.

  13. Maintains supply inventories according to volume needs.

  14. Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and needed repairs.

  15. Enters appropriate charges for tests through computer system.

  16. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

Education: High School Graduate.

Licensure: CPR certified.

Experience: One year’s experience in allied health profession preferred. Computer experience preferred.
