United States Steel Ops & Mtce Project Manager I in Minnesota

United States Steel Corporation is seeking an Operations and Maintenance Project Manager for our Minnesota Ore Operations organization. The Operations and Maintenance Project Manager will report directly to the Head of Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be responsible for supporting the projects and efforts to help U. S. Steel achieve its Mission 100 objectives as Minnesota Ore Operations pivots to Best Operations within the Best for All Strategy. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate internal and external project team meetings and facilitate information collection to support project objectives

  • Coordinate update meetings for MOO senior leadership including collection of KPIs and action updates for M100 project areas.

  • Audit OPEX and Maintenance excellence projects for the following:

  • Process consistency

  • Metric alignment with objective results

  • Data integrity used in project measurement

  • Project delivery focused on bottom line savings

  • Support for bottom line savings

  • Organize team development activities to support leadership growth and behavioral excellence

  • Coordinate and support organization wide training needs identified through M100 actions and activities

  • Drive OPEX and Maintenance Excellence efforts through:

  • Executing the improvement program communications plan across the facilities, own communication strategy to all levels

  • Maintaining visibility and updates on project portfolio timelines and impacts

  • Support teams on linking impacts to savings, work with accounting teams to develop strategy and methods

  • Overseeing forecast to business plan process

  • Support and audit change management strategy and processes

  • Lead training needs for teams and onboarding of new members

  • Lead Coordination of events (example: Demos, Gallery Walks, Training Seminars, Corporate Visits, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires a minimum of Five (5) years of professional experience in the project area

  • In addition, the successful candidate must have project management and execution skills with the capability to drive activities to completion, mitigate risks, and help resolve issues/obstacles preventing progress, which requires strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with remote clients and ability to identify and prioritize program issues and risks that may need immediate attention are a must.

  • Demonstrated previous experience managing issues/risks so they are resolved/mitigated by appropriate stakeholders is necessary.

  • Keep leadership appraised of status, issues, and risks (verbally and written) and must be able to work well in a team environment where s/he may not have direct oversight and possess the ability to effectively influence key stakeholders at all levels.

  • Reinforce a culture with a high degree of emphasis on safety, ethics, and respect, by consistently modeling high standards of performance.

  • Associates degree in Business Administration, Science, or a related field.

  • This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Supervisory experience and the ability to teach and coach others.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Science, or related field.
