Thrivent Financial Director, Social Media in Minnesota, United States

The Director, Social Media will lead Thrivent’s social media strategy and drive engagement across key social media platforms. This role will lead a talented team, guiding our social media initiatives to elevate brand awareness and cultivate meaningful engagement with our audiences.

The Director, Social Media is responsible for optimizing Thrivent’s current social media presence and leading the expansion into new channels and the development of impactful influencer programs. By leveraging data-driven insights and collaborating cross-functionally, the Director, Social Media leads the development of social-first strategies that resonate with Thrivent’s audiences and drive measurable results. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Lead and manage a team of social media experts by fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.

  • Drive the development of Thrivent’s social strategy across current platforms, including, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube to increase brand awareness, engagement and acquisition.

  • Evolve Thrivent's social media presence by exploring new channels and implementing influencer programs to further amplify our brand reach.

  • Collaborate with Thrivent’s internal creative team to develop and execute a refreshed social strategy.

  • Direct community management efforts by implementing strategies to increase engagement rates, foster a positive online community and mitigate risk.

  • Develop comprehensive reporting frameworks and analyze social media metrics and KPIs to monitor campaign performance and optimize strategies based on data-driven insights.

  • Manage relationships with external agencies, vendors, and partners as needed to support social media initiatives and campaigns.

  • Oversee the development and management of social media budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Integrated Marketing, Communications and Brand teams to ensure alignment and integration of social media initiatives.

  • Develop and enforce social media policies and guidelines to ensure brand consistency, protect company reputation, and mitigate potential risks related to sensitive topics, crises, or negative feedback.

  • Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization.

    Social Media Team : Directly managing and leading a team of social media experts, the Director will guide their efforts, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture to ensure the effective execution of social media strategies.

    Marketing, Public Relations Communications, and Brand Teams: Collaborating extensively with these teams to align social media initiatives with broader marketing objectives , public relations and communications; ensuring strategic social strategies are applied across all channels.

    Creative Team: Partner with the creative team to establish a new vision for Thrivent’s social media presence including visual and verbal representation of Thrivent in social media and a working model between creative and social teams.

    External Agencies : Managing relationships with external agencies to support various social media initiatives and campaigns, leveraging enhance campaign effectiveness and reach.

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

    Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing , Communications, or related field/and/or equivalent experience

  • 8 + years of senior social media experience, executing, and leading social media in a large, matrixed environment.

  • 5+ years of team leadership experience.

  • Proven track record of le ading social media platforms to drive brand awareness, engagement, and acquisition.

  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and evolve corporate social media presence by exploring new channels, implementing influencer programs, and adapting strategies to meet social media best practices.

  • Expertise in social media community management to foster er engagement and mitig ate r isks. Skilled in developing and enforcing social media policies .

  • Ability to foster effective partnership and collaboration across teams, including marketing, communications, brand and public relations ensuring social media initiatives are aligned with broader organizational objectives .

    Preferred:

  • Experience in consumer financial services and with a distributed sales force - banking, lending, debt solutions, fintech or other regulated industry.

  • Experience in Sprinklr, Hearsay Social and Adobe Analytics
