D2D provides turn-key space to studies looking to recruit and collect data for their minimal-risk human subjects' projects. This unique, one-of-a-kind opportunity serves as a way to build a culture of research across Minnesota and showcase the innovative work being done across the state. A temporary Assistant is needed to help with building set-up/take-down and work during the fair itself, August 22 - September 2, 2024. Must be available to work most days of the fair, including evenings and weekends. Deadline for Application: Open until filled Pay: $15-19/hour, commensurate with education/experience, plus fair admission. Description An Assistant Building Manager is needed to help run the Driven to Discover Research Facility at the Minnesota State Fair, which runs from August 22 to September 2, 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for students and others looking for experience in a cross-disciplinary, human-subjects research environment. This role will serve on the operations side of D2D overseeing daily work flow, inventory, customer service, and general assistance to ensure a positive atmosphere and experience for research teams and fairgoers alike. Duties Help prepare the D2D building for the 2024 Minnesota State Fair and close it down after the fair. Help D2D staff run the building during the fair. Set up and take down booths, manage equipment (e.g., iPads), troubleshoot issues (e.g., weather, electrical outages, broken equipment), handle emergencies (e.g., falls, missing children), cleaning (including mopping the floor at the end of the night), learn state fair and D2D procedures, answer questions from researchers and fairgoers, promote participation to fairgoers, and other duties as assigned by the D2D Manager. Qualifications Required: Must be able to lift 35 pounds. Successful applicants must complete approximately 3 hours of paid, online training in treatment of human subjects for research (CITI).
