Appointments may be full-time or part-time and may be limited to one semester. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2024-25 academic year. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis through academic year. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. Teaching specialists and lecturers will be expected to teach undergraduate or graduate students in assigned course(s), hold office hours to assist and advise students, and participate in relevant departmental meetings. Overview: The pool will established Instructors for undergraduate and graduate courses in the Biomedical Engineering Department (e.g. Transport Phenomena, Biomechanics, Instrumentation, etc.). The position requires all duties that are related to delivering the assigned course, including developing teaching materials, providing instructions, grading student assignments, being available to help answer student questions outside of class. Essential Job Duties: Develop and provide instruction for assigned course(s). Grade examinations, reports, and assign final grades. Prepare class materials and exams. Organize course Perform other duties directly related to the delivery of a course, e.g., hold office hours, complete semester-end student evaluations of instruction, etc. Current Openings: BME is looking for an instructor to teach the following course for the Fall 2024 Semester: FALL 2024 - BMEn 8501 Dynamical Systems in Biology (3 cr, TTh 1:00-2:15 pm) Nonlinear dynamics with specific emphasis on behavior of excitable systems (neurons/cardiac myocytes). Qualifications Required Qualifications: Masters degree in engineering, physics, or related field required for appointment as Teaching Specialist (job code 9754). Doctorate in engineering, physics, or related field required for appointment as Lecturer (job code 9753). Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching engineering curriculum is highly desired.
