Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) System Administrator II Full-time, exempt Starting Salary: $75,000 $85,000 Onsite The Job The Systems Administrator II serves as an integral part of the Information Systems department, partnering with the Infrastructure Manager to provide subject matter expertise, management, and support for all institutional network, server and endpoints. The Systems Administrator II also collaborates with institutional leadership and stakeholders to plan, implement, maintain, and support a systems infrastructure that is secure, reliable, and usable for all members of Mia staff as well as museum visitors and members. In this role, you will 1. Implement, manage and maintain network and server infrastructure. In partnership and with support from the Infrastructure Manager, ensure the operation of all server and network hardware, phone system, security, printing, firmware, operating systems, and software. Manage, install, configure, and maintain servers, desktops, network devices, and virtual environments. Proactively monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex issues, identify and solve issues before they impact operations. Document configurations, procedures, best practices, and other important technical information. Develop and maintain comprehensive backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity. 2. Manage and support endpoints and desktops while ensuring excellent customer service, service management, teamwork, and proactive communication In collaboration with the Infrastructure Manager and IS team, oversee endpoint deployment, management tools, desktop support and endpoint management including scheduled coverage during regular business hours and special events. Establish and maintain a schedule for on-call and after-hours support as required to maintain system integrity and resolve unexpected issues. Manage desktop support and the desktop support technician. Evaluate, select, implement, and administer tools to provision, manage, and secure Windows and macOS computers, iPads, and other mobile devices. Evaluate, select, implement, and administer tools to provide remote support for institutionally provisioned devices. Provide clear and transparent communication to stakeholders regarding system issues and planned changes. 3. Planning, Security, Data Governance and Other Duties Collaborate with the (IS) team and contribute to departmental strategic planning including consideration of emerging technology, lifecycle management, data governance, and security. Assist the IS team in the development, documentation, and adherence to best practices in IS security and data governance. Stay up to date on emerging technologies, evaluate new solutions/RFPs, and recommend improvements to enhance the IT infrastructure. Participate in Information Systems operational planning, budgeting, and team-building efforts. Assist Information Systems staff as needed end user training, or supporting other needs as required. Participate in assigned workgroups, task forces, and other ad-hoc and permanent collaborative groups. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Required: 5+ years as a System Administrator in an enterprise environment. 1+ year management or supervisory experience. Preferred: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Certifications relevant to the requirements of this position Work in a museum, education, or nonprofit environment Technical Proficiencies: Network infrastructure, protocols, VoIP, wireless, QoS, VLANs, a d network troubleshooting techniques. Experience implementing and managing Cisco network infrastructure strongly preferred. Administration of Active Directory/Entra/Azure AD/Office365 and Google Workspace. Experience administering MFA, SSO, and password management tools. Application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, etc.). Tools for configuration and monitoring of server and network environments. Firewall management and WLAN administration. Network and information security best practices and implementation methods. Linux/Unix, Windows Server (2008+), Microsoft ADS, Microsoft IIS. Support for Microsoft, Apple, and Android operating systems including Windows 10/11, macOS, iOS/iPad OS, and Android OS. Server virtualization (e.g., VMWare), SAN, cloud computing, Microsoft SQL Server, Apache, MySQL, Microsoft .NET frameworks. One or more programming languages (PHP, etc.).One or more scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
