SPORTS ENGINE / YOUTH REC SPORTS

This role is part of our Youth & Recreational Sports group, comprised of technology platforms such as SportsEngine (https://www.sportsengine.com/solutions) HQ, SportsEngine Motion (https://www.gomotionapp.com/solutions) , SportsEngine Play (https://www.sportsengine.com/play) and SportsEngine Tourney. (https://www.tourneymachine.com/Home.aspx) We enable athletes, parents, coaches and team administrators in the youth and recreational space to manage their organizations, collect payments, share schedules, find programs to participate in and connect with other families. Additionally, NCSI (https://solutions.ncsisafe.com/#home-banner) enables leagues and organizations to properly screen and train coaches in an effort to keep kids safe. 

SportsEngine, Inc., an NBC Sports company and leading provider of Sport Relationship Management (SRM) software, is hiring a Senior Product Manager to join our team. This role will be a major contributor to our strategic growth through improving our existing products and finding new opportunities to meet the needs of our customers and business. Our team is based in Minneapolis and we are open to both in-office and remote candidates for this position.

In this highly visible position, the Senior Product Manager is responsible for identifying market needs and transitioning those needs into SportsEngine products and solutions, focusing on the SportsEngine Admin experience and the Tournement products (SE Tourney and AES.) This role will work across multiple teams and technologies to bring both great customer experiences and scalable solutions to our platform.

As a senior member of the Product Team at SportsEngine, you will...

  • Determine and drive the product strategy and direction

  • Lead and manage key strategic products

  • Manage the product team within our Agile framework; potentially managing multiple squads within the team

  • Provide mentorship and oversight to other Product Managers/Product Owners with the possibility of direct management as required.

  • Communicate strategy, direction and progress to internal and external audiences

  • Lead cross functional teams for successful delivery of new products to market

  • Demonstrate thought leadership with how product(s) address key market problems/needs

  • Listen to the market to determine needs by actively engaging with customers, and participating in youth sports events and organizations for primary research and experience

  • Create business cases to justify investment in additional product capabilities

  • Determine how best to incorporate new product capability via build, partner, buy evaluations

  • Manage contact with customers, industry influencers and strategic partners to obtain competitive and market data for product

  • Oversee commercialization/launch process for product releases to confirm successful delivery of new product capabilities from concept to post launch delivery

  • Be hands-on managing project requirements, scope, and delivery as needed. 

  • Be a partner in developing market requirements, pricing, market sizing, and competitive analysis for product(s)

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

 

  • 5+ years working as a product manager, SaaS background is preferred, or equivalent

  • Strong technical, UX and/or business background

  • Solid business acumen and strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Advanced presentation skills and strong written/verbal communication

  • Subject matter expertise in sports or small business administration

  • Good judgment with respect to managing priorities, resources and risk

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills

  • Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to break down complex problems and formulate plans

  • Previous people management experience is a plus

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience

  • Have 5+ years of professional experience working on consumer and business web applications

  • Demonstrated track record of strong execution and experience partnering with technical teams to deliver results.

  • Extensive experience with how sports organizations are managed.
