We are looking for a Senior /Principal/Fellow Engineer to lead firmware development efforts for an implantable pulse generator medical device. As a key member of our core development team, you will serve as the firmware expert directing both internal and external development teams. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience taking implantable medical electronics through the entire design cycle and will be responsible for all firmware aspects of the implantable device and charging device.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate multi-departmental software development projects in accordance with the Product Development Procedure, Quality Policy, and Software Development Procedure.
Design, develop, and implement embedded firmware solutions for medical devices.
Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration between firmware and hardware components.
Apply software engineering knowledge to the design and development of new products as well as product changes and enhancements.
Solve software engineering problems at the subsystem through system level.
Conduct testing utilizing existing test protocols or develop new ones as needed.
Generate written protocols and reports.
Assign work to technicians, temporary workers, and other members of the project team.
Contribute to the intellectual property position of the company via invention and patent applications.
Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies and biomedical developments related to company products.
Provide software engineering and technical support of products introduced into both domestic and international markets as well as physician in-service programs.
Oversee outside vendors and consultants as required.
Maintain Quality System compliance in coordination with Document Control, Clinical, and Quality Assurance functions.
Provide software engineering support in the resolution of product complaints and/or safety issues.
Coordinate pilot production of new products with other engineering, manufacturing, clinical affairs, sales and marketing, and quality assurance staff.
Essential Skills
Extensive experience in firmware development, specifically for implantable devices.
Proficiency in Embedded C and firmware architecture.
Experience with pulse generators and implantable pulse generators (IPGs).
Strong understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems, and hardware-software interfaces.
Ability to solve complex software engineering problems at subsystem and system levels.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience leading and coordinating multi-departmental projects.
Knowledge of competitive technologies and biomedical developments.
Experience with overseeing vendors and consultants.
Ability to contribute to invention and patent applications.
Understanding of Quality System compliance.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role with mandatory office attendance on Wednesdays. Additional days in the office may be required depending on project needs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
