Starting Salary Range: $80-105K annually, dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The position will involve some travel (conferences) which may include overnights and weekends. This position will have a hybrid or fully remote work option. Work arrangements will be discussed during the interview. Position Summary: This position will serve as researcher and core staff at the Center for Public Health Systems. Responsibilities of the researcher include project design and management, survey development and administration, analysis of quantitative data, report writing, and grant writing. The researcher will also support projects by reviewing and synthesizing literature that is needed for projects housed within the Center. Research and evaluation (60%) Under limited supervision, conduct research activities related to Center projects, including but not limited to research on public health systems, workforce, and finance. Collect and analyze data using quantitative research methods. Assure the evaluation components of our grant projects are being met as required by grant and funding requirements. Review literature to identify practice topic-related gaps and opportunities that the Center could pursue Collaborate on the creation of grant and contract proposals. Project Management (20%) Coordinate the work of assigned Center projects and assuring project deadlines, goals, and requirements are being met. Generate evaluation related reports, summaries, and presentations as required by various grant projects; including annual reports and evaluation reports Engaging students in research and practice (10%) In collaboration with the Center Manager and Director, informally direct students working on Center research projects. Other duties as assigned (10%) About the Center The Center for Public Health Systems (CPHS) at the University of Minnesota conducts research and evaluation that serves governmental public health agencies at the federal, state, regional, local, territorial, and tribal levels. Our mission is to support public health departments and practitioners by identifying, developing, and applying evidence-based practices and resources in collaboration with governments, organizations, and communities. Since 2021, CPHS has brought in over $20 million in grants and contractual work with various partners, including state and local public health, national and state level associations, and other schools of public health. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Advanced degree with 1 or more years of research training. Advanced degree can be a MPH, MA/MS or PhD degree in public health, evaluation studies, systems science, sociology, or related fields. Demonstrated s rong writing and analytical skills Demonstrated strong organizational skills Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace. Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse populations Preferred Qualifications: 4 or more years of relevant experience PhD in public health, statistics, evaluation studies, systems science, sociology, or related field Experience writing proposals for grant-funded projects Experience contributing intellectually to a research team Demonstrated experience in managing multiple complex projects simultaneously Experience in governmental public health practice (federal, state, local) or with projects supporting governmental public health practice About the Department The University of Minnesota School of Public Health improves the health and wellbeing of populations and communities around the world by bringing innovative research, learning, and concrete actions to today's biggest health challenges.
