The researcher should have expertise in computational neuroscience (both neural modeling and machine learning expertise preferred), non-human animal behavioral neuroscience (rat, multi-site silicon probe neural ensemble recording preferred), and human psychiatric neuroscience (expertise in psychosis models, behavior and analysis preferred). This position will be co-supervised by Drs. David Redish and Sophia Vinogradov and located within the neuroscience department at the University of Minnesota. 60% Research management The candidate will independently conduct research examining the relation between state representations and psychosis, building computational models to address how neural changes could produce behavioral changes, analyzing neurophysiological and behavioral data, and applying advanced machine learning techniques to subtype patient performance. The candidate is expected to contribute to all aspects of independently managed projects from conception to data acquisition, analysis, and dissemination, including grant writing and maintenance. The candidate is expected to work with the other researchers throughout the center to integrate analyses across species and tasks. 20% Publications and outreach The candidate will prepare and submit manuscripts for publication. The candidate will present publications at national conference representing UMN. The candidate will prepare and submit grants to fund UMN research 10% Mentoring The candidate will provide mentorship and training to postdoctoral associates, graduate students, and other lab members, with a particular emphasis on the machine learning and analysis techniques necessary to integrate these data. 10% Other duties, as necessary to support the center and laboratory research. Qualifications Required: Advanced degree with 1 or more years of research training. About the Department Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system.
