This *regionally based position will represent the University of Minnesota to prospective students, prospective student families, and high school officials in Illinois, while providing customer service to prospective students from a variety of geographical locations and identities, including racial and ethnic backgrounds. *This position will be based in the Chicago and surrounding metro area and will require occasional travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is a 100% time, 12-month, annually renewable appointment in the academic professional and administrative (P&A) personnel series (job classification 9702AN, SS Pro 2-Admissions). This includes an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, 22 paid time off days, one personal holiday in addition to the existing 12 University holidays. Essential Job Responsibilities: Engagement (30%) * Implement extensive recruitment and relationship-building efforts utilizing written, telephone, and in-person communication to prospective undergraduate students, applicants, and admitted students; primarily in the Illinois territory. * Serve as the primary liaison for Illinois high school counselors, independent counselors, and other school officials to support University relationships, recruitment, and student interest support. * Serve as a one-stop contact for freshman admissions; provide advising and assistance throughout the admission process to students, family members, and high school counselors. Territory Management (30%) * Decide, plan, and execute a college recruitment management plan tailored to the territory of Illinois, that applies an effective mix of in-person recruitment, over-the-phone communication, and other methods of relationship-building. * Monitor student behavioral trends and identify responses or changes to recruitment plan based on those trends. * Responsible for maintaining and growing visits, applications, and other key enrollment indicators in the Illinois territory. * Build and manage relationships with key external stakeholders, including prospective students, parents, high school counselors, community leaders, secondary school teachers, and administrators. Travel, Event, & Program Planning and Execution (25%) * Represent the University at high school and community presentations and college fairs in IL, exploring national growth in secondary territories, and support national recruitment throughout the country as needed/requested by national members and direct manager. * Exercise significant discretion and independent judgment to develop and modify travel schedule and activities; implement strategic assessment and understanding of territory and recruitment goals. * Plan, participate and work with general student recruitment outreach activities on and off campus. * Coordinate and present on and off-campus information sessions at high school programs, recruitment events, and counselor meetings to recruit students to apply and enroll at the University of Minnesota. Credential Review (10%) * Evaluate and interpret academic and other credentials for admission decision and counseling purposes. Other (5%) * Meet all office-wide requirements for diversity, equity and inclusion work and professional development as identified by supervisor and DEI Office Committee. Starting salary range: $55,000 - $65,000, depending on qualifications. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Preferred Qualifications: Especially strong candidates are likely to have some but not all of the following preferred skills, experiences, and strengths: * Candidates with University of Minnesota experience dened broadly such as former student, graduate, employee, or community member of any campus. * Event planning or project management experience. * Candidates with admissions work experience.
