We at Fairview Health Services is looking for a dedicated Psychiatric Associate to join the hardworking Riverside side location on the University of Minnesota Campus West Bank

Unit 4A’s program is crafted to address the age specific issues of young adults. Admissions to the unit are generally persons between the ages of 18 and 25 years old. The unit is a16 bed capacity where patients average length of stay is 7-14 days (fluctuates due to individual patient needs).

Treatment is built around a deep appreciation for the unique stresses and life changing choices that accompany young adulthood such as, exploring career options, establishing independence – many young adults have reached the age of legal independence but are not yet functionally or financially independent of their parents/guardians and wish to have them included in their health care. Communication and engagement is key towards stabilization and success upon discharge. Unit 4A is a newer behavioral health unit that is composed of passionate staff that are acutely in tuned with the needs of this population. It is a vibrant unit and staff enjoy mentoring new employees to this unique population!

This role is approved for 56 hours, every two weeks on the night shift, working 8-hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is benefit eligible. Responsibilities Job Description

The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.

Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned:

  • Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.

  • Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.

  • Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.

  • Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.

Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions.

  • Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.

  • Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.

Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans:

  • Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.

  • Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, detailed, and professional manner.

  • Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Basic Life Support Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Human Services Field

  • Experience working in the mental health field
