MHealth Fairview Health Services is looking for a Psychiatric Associate to join our outstanding Adult Inpatient Mental Health unit! Unit 20 also has a mix of many challenging patients including those who are anxious/depressed and are at risk for self harm or suicide as well those who have thought disorders and struggle with managing their lives in the community. Some patients have co-occurring medical issues that broaden the experience. Unit 20 20 is one of our teaching units and so RNs and PAs will work with resident doctors and medical students. Team meetings on teaching units are very informative and participatory.

Unit 20 has 17 beds including 5 private and 6 double rooms. The team consists of - 2 attending psychiatrists, 2 CTCs (social workers), 1 Occupational therapist, RNs and psychiatric associates. Chaplains, diversity specialists and medical providers are shared with other units.

This role is approved for 48 hours, every two weeks on the Evening shift, working 8-hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is benefit eligible. Responsibilities Job Description

The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.

Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned:

  • Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.

  • Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.

  • Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.

  • Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.

Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions.

  • Conducts informative programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.

  • Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.

Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans:

  • Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.

  • Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, detailed, and professional manner.

  • Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Basic Life Support Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Human Services Field
