Job ID359607 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyStudent Services Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9703ED Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job JOB SUMMARY The Program Advisor at Radio K will be responsible to drive creation and implementation of Real College Radio student-run programming, lead and mentor students in an experiential learning environment, supervise student staff, and serve as a representative of Radio K to the University of Minnesota and larger community. The Program Advisor reports to the Radio K Director within the Office for Student Affairs at the University of Minnesota. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES ADVISING & SUPPORT 1. Serve as advisor to students (30%) o Drive student creation and implementation of ground-breaking programming that informs, educates, and entertains o Develop, maintain, and enforce station policies and FCC rules o Generate outreach efforts on-campus and in the community o Strengthen brand presence to increase student participation 2. Supervise student staff and DJs (20%) o Create and enforce policies and practices that provide experiential learning, structure, and flexibility o Encourage leadership, creativity, and collaboration o Coach on-air staff: conduct regular airchecks and develop programming to increase listenership o Provide training and internship opportunities for students PROGRAMMATIC DEVELOPMENT * Mentor Real College Podcast staff and volunteers (25%) o Coach students to produce a weekly Arts and Culture Podcast that is aired over terrestrial streams and available as a podcast o Train students in audio editing, storytelling, production and producing content o Work within a grant budget FUNDRAISING * Fundraising Lead (15%) o Collaborate and coach the Membership Director to plan all aspects of o membership drives: goal setting, on-air scripts, timelines, donor reports, etc. o Prepare, oversee, and lead Radio K's annual Student Fees request o Initiate unique fundraising campaigns, such as year-end giving o Grant writing ability and benchmark reporting per grant requirements ADMINISTRATION * University liaison (10%) o Represent Radio K on and off-campus as needed o Maintain station's compliance with FCC rules and regulations o Ensure Sound Exchange and PROs (ASCAP, BMI and SESAC) compliance o Provide support and other duties as needed Position will be posted until filled. Salary range: $58,000-$62,000 Qualifications Required Education and Qualification *Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or a master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience. Required Skills and Knowledge * Experience with fundraising campaigns including donor acquisition, retention, and growing current donor value * Experience mentoring/teaching students in an experiential learning environment * Willingness and ability to be available via cell phone 24/7 and to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends as necessary * Able to function productively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment, work independently and accept direction. * Possess a high-energy, positive attitude, and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines * Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues in multiple departments * Dedication and enthusiasm for Radio K's dual mission to educate and serve the community Preferred Software Experience * Audio editing and mixing with Pro Tools or other digital audio workstation * Previous experience in broadcasting - experience in podcasting is a plus * Experience using Blackbaud fundraising software or similar * Knowledge of scheduling software such as MusicMaster * Familiarity with automation software such as RCS Zetta About the Department Radio K - Real College Radio (KUOM) is the award-winning student-run radio station of the University of Minnesota, playing an eclectic variety of independent music both old and new.
