Description
We are offering an opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join our client's team in the construction industry. In this role, you will be responsible for managing payroll processes, maintaining accurate employee records, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Efficiently process weekly payroll for both union and non-union employees
• Manage and maintain accurate payroll records for compliance and audit purposes
• Handle payroll tax filings, ensuring accurate deductions and timely submissions
• Administer retirement accounts, including enrollment, reporting, payments, and processing loans
• Manage wage garnishments such as child support, levies, and other court-ordered deductions
• Prepare and submit quarterly tax reports in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Handle union reporting, including dues, fringe benefits, and certified payroll reports
• Utilize payroll software for efficient and accurate payroll processing
• Understand and manage payroll functions related to union contracts and collective bargaining agreements.
Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role in the construction or contractor industry
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with Sage 100 and other payroll software
• Demonstrated ability to process weekly payroll and handle payroll taxes
• Familiarity with payroll management and various payroll functions
• Experience with union payroll, including understanding of union dues and fringe benefits
• Knowledge of payroll for companies with under 100 employees
• Familiarity with payroll garnishments and tax reporting
• Experience with certified payroll and understanding of retirement benefits
• Ability to handle garnishments and human resources (HR) administration tasks
• Knowledge of retirement and retirement benefits management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
