Apply for Job Job ID364380 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilySupplemental Employee Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code0001 Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job MnVoiceLab Researcher Role Description: The Minnesota Voice Lab of Dr. Hoffmeister is seeking casual researchers interested in gaining clinical research experience to help support the clinical procedures for our studies, "Measurement of Upper Aerodigestive Tract Pressures during Phonation," "Measurement of Vocal Motor Learning," and "Validation of Cough Monitoring with Hyfe Application." The focus of the laboratory and of these studies is to develop improved methods for measuring voice, swallowing, and upper airway function in patients who have disorders in these areas. The researcher will assist Dr. Hoffmeister during the data collection procedures by greeting participants when they arrive in the clinic, showing them to the procedure room, and handing instruments to Dr. Hoffmeister and documenting notes during the procedure as requested. The researcher will also perform analysis of acoustic data using a combination of Microsoft programs, R statistical software, Praat, Computerized Speech Lab, and MATLab, and analysis of manometric pressure data using ManoView Software and R statistical software. The ideal candidate will have previous experience with at least 2 of these programs, but such experience is not required to apply. There will be a free training consisting of online modules that can be completed online remotely as well as in person training on the clinical portions. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in gaining clinical research experience or patient facing clinical experience, particularly for those interested in pursuing careers in otolaryngology or speech-language pathology. There may be opportunities to collaborate with academic publishing/writing or expansion of the role in the future. Additional Information This position requires a six month commitment and 2-6 hours per week because of the training and access required.
