Position Summary Be the difference and put your passion into action become a Scholar Coach! Our state has some of the largest education disparities in the nation, but together we can help change that! Join an innovative team dedicated to advancing equity and helping all students succeed. As a Scholar Coach, you ll serve at a local school and be embedded in a K-3 classroom. You ll partner with the classroom teacher to promote scholastic engagement and help students become better readers. Every day, you ll also meet with students one-on-one or in pairs to provide extra practice and build skills. With training and on-site coaching, you'll be prepared to help kids succeed. Your commitment during school hours throughout the academic year guarantees a significant impact. This is an AmeriCorps member position with the Total Learning Classroom Initiative of Reading Corps. How You ll Take Action - Be a caring adult who s focused on helping students build their skills and confidence. - Track student progress and regularly meet with the school s on-site coach. - Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software. - Commit to your own growth as a tutor through coaching, training, and professional development. - Represent Reading Corps at school events and share your experience with the community to raise awareness. Perks Package While you re making a difference, you ll receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks and additional perks! As an AmeriCorps program we have both federally provided benefits and program specific benefits. Federal Benefits include: - Up to $5176.50 in Education Award Segal AmeriCorps Education Award* which can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. - Individuals 55+ at the start of their service term may gift their award to a family member.
