Manpower Engineering is partnering with a leader in glass manufacturing in Tomah, WI for a Laser Support/ Maintenance Technician!

Job Title: Laser Support/Maintenance Technician

Location: Tomah, WI

Compensation: OPEN – based on experience (plus, relocation assistance if necessary)

Job Summary: As a Laser Support Technician, you will support the brand new production line. General functions: be the subject matter expert for maintaining/servicing lasers, learn the ins and outs of processing equipment, perform preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshoot faulted machines, repair/replace defective components, and adhere to OSHA VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) level safety program. You will support production by ensuring equipment is properly maintained, guiding troubleshooting efforts, and delivering equipment up-time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation of high-performance laser processing systems

  • Learn to operate and maintain processing equipment necessary to produce smart glass products. Learn the specific procedures for maintaining the laser processing equipment.

  • General maintenance, beam alignment, spatial profiling of beam path, lens cleaning

  • Work alongside production technicians and engineers to troubleshoot faulty equipment.

  • Establish initial conditions required for maintenance (i.e. Lock Out/Tag Out)

  • Understand equipment calibration requirements and assist calibration program.

  • Work cross functionally with Production, Quality, and Engineering/Maintenance to address product quality issues.

  • Perform preventive/predictive maintenance in a timely manner. Anticipate what is needed to get ahead of larger issues.

  • Assist in validation of production line through IQ, OQ, PQ, PPQ processes

  • Work closely with Preventive Maintenance Software (CMMS) to track all manufacturing preventive maintenance, breakdowns, projects, and parts consumption.

  • Assist in determining process control limits for laser process equipment.

  • Understand best safety practices for working with complex laser processing tools.

  • Handle materials as needed. This requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.

  • Position requires onsite presence with standard business week working hours.

  • Travel up to 5% to Company production facilities and partners (domestic & international).

Qualifications:

  • Technician Training

  • 2 Year Technical/associate degree (electrical/mechanical) OR military technical role with honorable discharge

  • 5+ Years of real-world experience in a manufacturing setting

  • Experience communicating with cross-functional teams

  • Comfortable operating around large equipment.

  • Comfortable operating power tools

  • Ability to use software required for Preventive Maintenance.

  • 2+ years of industrial laser processing experience

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts and draft technical reports as needed.

  • Has good time management skills. Maintains the ability to plan and adjust plans based on production needs.

  • Commitment to safety and an orderly workplace.

  • Ability to work as part of a team, including all levels of coworkers.

  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct.

  • Self-starter. Ability to operate independently.

  • Desired Qualifications :

  • Experience with PLCs (programmable logic controllers)

  • LSS green belt / black belt
