Position Summary

Transmission and Substation Standards sponsors, authors, and maintains standards and specifications for the design, procurement, and construction of Xcel Energy’s transmission system. The Standards team works across the enterprise; coordinate with various Transmission work groups, Supply Chain, Distribution, and Safety. Interns will be exposed to a wide breadth of Xcel Energy.

This internship would be full-time during the summer starting May 2025. Potential to continue part-time during the 2025 - 2026 school year. Candidates should be able to work out of the Minneapolis, MN or Denver, CO office.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Engineering staff to support Standards projects.

• Work as an entry level engineering analyst doing tasks spanning all aspects of standards development including scope creation, knowledge transfer from subject matter experts, project management, and document preparation.

• Through practical operations experience and mentoring, a successful candidate will gain significant professional confidence and people skills.

• This will be a summer opportunity with the potential to extend into a school semester. The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer. If the intern works during the school year, their hours should be part-time.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program, studying areas such as electrical, mechanical, civil, and chemical engineering.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $22.50 per hour
