Manage and lead 15 direct reports as well as cross-functional teams. Responsible for resource forecasting and allocation, hiring, managing workflow, delegating, goal-setting, performance evaluations, performance management, support for career planning and development, conflict resolution, and recommendation of departmental changes. Job Responsibilities Operational Leadership (60%) Establish and institutionalize standard software development methodologies and delivery of artifacts within the OIT. Influence future direction for application development and participate in discussions about the long-term vision. Collaborate closely with architecture, delivery planning and business groups to understand enterprise initiatives and manage enhancement requests. Work closely with business teams to understand business processes and translate those processes into implementable solutions using agile development processes, ensuring compliance and operational excellence. Develop policies, procedures, and standards. Proactively anticipate new technologies and solutions to inform staff development and training and shape recommendations to service owners and senior leadership. Coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives and budgeting. Build a strong network of peers within comparable institutions. Recruitment and Talent Management: Lead the recruitment and hiring process to onboard high-potential IT professionals who align with the team's objectives and values. Define clear roles and responsibilities for team members and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development of team members. Leadership and Agile Management: Provide leadership for teams totaling 20 IT development professionals, guiding them in modern agile software development including coding, testing, configuration, and troubleshooting activities across multiple vendors and platforms. Coach agile leaders in delivering medium-sized projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with departmental strategies and successful delivery of services. Align staff work plans and goals with overarching departmental objectives, and oversee project management and workflow to achieve desired outcomes. Cloud Technologies and Cloud Native Applications: Push continued investment in cloud technologies such as Azure and OCI, including using prior hands-on experience in developing and supporting cloud-native applications. Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in cloud application development and deployment,and integrate relevant technologies into the team's workflow to enhance efficiency and scalability. Staff Management/Leadership (40% time) Manage 15 direct reports who support a variety of functions including application development, data/business analysis, data architecture/mo eling, database administration and project management for enterprise-wide hardware and software from multiple vendors and platforms. Lead cross-functional teams including the database, middle tier, user interface and network. Lead teams through development and implementation of application programming interfaces (APIs) for secure University applications and external web service interfaces. Responsible for resource forecasting and allocation, hiring, managing workflow, delegating, and making recommendations for departmental changes. Establish standards and goals. Conduct performance evaluations and support staff in career planning and development. Manage conflict and resolve issues and concerns raised by employees. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of information technology experience or Master's degree plus at least 6 years of experience Experience in professional IT leadership roles in supervisory, or managerial positions. Proficiency in delivering modern web applications using languages such as Java, Ruby on Rails, Node.JS or similar, including best practices in test-driven development and CI/CD pipelines Experience working in an enterprise setting with a medium to large user base, demonstrating strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
