Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. Human Resources Manager I in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Due to promotion, we are seeking a Human Resource Manager I based at Kemps HQ office in St. Louis Park, MN. In this role, you will develop and maintain effective working relationships throughout the organization to facilitate engagement of human resources policies, programs, and procedures and provide excellent customer service when addressing employee questions and inquiries. Recommends process improvement and efficiencies within the scope of responsibilities to enhance the human resource's function and employee experience. Serves as primary resource for 100+ employee shared service center, in addition to field support for multiple manufacturing facilities. Will support and partner with employees from multiple functions and at all levels within a matrix organization. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide counsel to managers and employees regarding human resources policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance and support with company guidelines, employment law, and company culture. Lead by example, serve as a company change agent, and adopt and champion new practices, policies, and procedures. Models way of working within and in support of our core values. Participate in special projects in all areas of the employment life cycle and disciplines of human resources, including recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, performance management, compensation, training and development, and retention. Assist in identifying training needs and coordinating training programs to enhance employee skills and career growth. Coordinate and deliver leadership development training to both office and frontline leaders across divisions. Manage the recruitment process for non-exempt positions. Coordinates requisitions, internal and external job postings, applicant/candidate correspondence, interview schedules, job descriptions, references, offer letters, drug screens and background checks, requisition closeout, new employee set-up, and onboarding. Partner with talent acquisition team with recruitment of exempt level positions, working closely with hiring managers as trusted advisors throughout the process. Execute the onboarding process to ensure new employees have an excellent experience of the organization and are set up for short and long-term success. Process bi-weekly payroll. Understand and can apply wage and labor laws to payroll and union contract language. Maintains payroll records and responds to payroll-related inquiries. Partner with the accounting/finance team with month-end reports for labor forecasting and budgeting purposes, in addition to ad hoc reports as requested. Processes monthly invoices for union dues, and other human resources-related billings. Partner with representatives from the Corporate Benefit Services Center to ensure employees receive appropriate information on benefits enrollment, assist in coordinating the onsite wellness initiatives and field employee benefits questions. Administers required paperwork and coordinates LOA programs. Coordinate employee events in support of employee recognition, community, and employee wellness. Coordinate employee communication regarding human resources programs and employee announcements to ensure consistent messaging to the organization. Actively participate on the safety/first responder team. Manages worker's compensation, investigates safety incidents, and partners with facilities on employee ergonomic assessments. Support next-level leadership as well as local leadership teams in the design and implementation of division-wide HR initiatives. Research HR best practices. Assists in process development and implementation for a variety of human resources best practices. Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or related field required. 4-6 years experience in a human resources function. Working knowledge of Human Resources principles, concepts, and practices. Professional Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-Certified Professional ertification preferred. Working knowledge of worker's compensation and familiarity with OSHA recording practices. Experience working with Microsoft Office at an Intermediate level. Experience in HRIS systems (ADP preferred), Kronos, and PowerBI. Ability to travel up to 25%.
