JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI will support system integrations within architecture of Mainframe systems. Provide support for services and software, changes to existing programs and well as new programs. Provide support for incident management and monitoring. Perform routine break/fix support and regression testing and support enterprise mainframe data interfaces. Ensure accuracy and integrity of data and applications through analysis, coding, clear documentation, and problem resolution. Analyze and translate functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications. Ensure integrations function as designed based on functional and technical requirements. Consult with business and technical teams about service design and maintenance. Collaborate with other engineers and technical leads on design decisions. Design and develop services and conduct unit and integration tests. Understand and follow data governance guidelines and ensure attention to data quality. Understand and ensure security and data privacy standards. Utilize experience with designing and implementing PL/I programs and use of mainframe tools. Work and coordinate with third parties on data and functional related inquiries. Apply experience with Web Services and APIs (WSDL, SOAP, REST and WS standards). Navigate full stack of applications and supporting components, contributing directly to engineering discussions that affect current and future state of applications. Drive around backlog items and appropriately spec and develop code to contribute directly to source repositories. Telecommuting is permitted up to 3 days per week.
