JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will manage system integrations within architecture of Mainframe systems. Provide support for services and software, changes to existing programs and well as new programs. Provide support for incident management and monitoring. Perform routine break/fix support and regression testing and support mainframe data interfaces to enterprise. Ensure accuracy and integrity of data and applications through analysis, coding, clear documentation, and problem resolution. Analyze and translate functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications. Ensure integrations function as designed based on functional and technical requirements. Perform technology assessment of existing applications and propose technology roadmap and provide solution options for modernizing our systems to modern tech stack. Consult with business and technical teams about service design and maintenance. Collaborate with other engineers and technical leads on design decisions. Work with engineers, product owners, and business teams to shape requirements for epics and project initiatives. Design and develop services and conduct unit and integration tests. Navigate the full stack of the applications and supporting components, contributing directly to engineering discussions that affect current and future state of the applications. Drive around backlog items and appropriately spec and develop code to contribute directly to source repositories. Dive into overall application distribution architectures and navigate environments in which they run. Utilize experience working with writing and debugging online and batch PL/I programs. Apply experience deploying and running programs in CICS and in batch via JCL. Provide cross-functional technical leadership across multiple delivery teams. Establish, aggregate, and share enterprise standards and best practices. Mentor and guide junior engineers on teams.
