FTE: 0.900000 Shift: Shift 1 Job Summary: The Rapid Response RN-Float is a diversified clinician accountable and responsible for evaluation, support, and escalation of care for patients at risk of clinical deterioration. Responds emergently to assist acute care as well as critical care nurses in the short term management of patients. Practices nursing in crisis and non-crisis situations across all inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, and procedural areas, including visitors and employees. RRT nursing practice reflects application of knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses and procedures, medications, and complications associated with specific patient populations. Dedicated member of the Code-4 team. Performs as role model for positively influencing the practice of nursing. Provides formal and informal education within the academic forum, as well as one-on-one mentoring to nursing staff. Collaborates with all physician groups to improve patient outcomes. Promotes exceptional patient experience by fostering nurs e patient relationships. Performs necessary documentation in the EHR. Reviews clinical documentation for the purpose of departmental and organizational quality improvement. Exhibits desire to learn, teach, mentor, and advance nursing practice. Participates in and leads practice changes and process improvement initiatives within the Rapid Response Team department, and in collaboration with other disciplines. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Minimum of 3 years of critical care nursing or emergency care nursing required to develop nursing process skills and to organize and prioritize all types of patient care on an immediate basis is required. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Bachelor\'s degree in Nursing is preferred. TRAINING DESCRIPTION: Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS) course completion within 1 year is required. SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: Requires strong clinical skills as well as independent decision making skills and the ability to prioritize and advance clinical practice. Demonstrates ability to assess and interpret diagnostic data and evaluate data trends to arrive at nursing diagnoses. Strong IV therapy and emergency medication skills required. Requires expert leadership skills. Must possess strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). CCRN or CEN certification is required. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required. American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required within 1 year of hire.
