Painter
Job Description
-Paint material for storage and shipment to customers.
-Prepare and repair parts for shipment, packing materials, sealing and identifying for shipment.
-Load and unload trucks
-Ensure maintenance and operation of equipment like fork trucks.
Responsibilities
Position material for painting/spraying in the paint booth.
Check surface condition for painting/spraying, sand, clean, and apply masking tape as needed.
Adjust air pressure and gun nozzle for desired concentration and uniformity, and spray surfaces with one or more primer or finish coats as required.
Touch up surfaces, thin paint or protectant to desired consistency, and refill tanks as needed.
Spray repair parts and units for excavators with paint, primer, or protectant as required.
Clean equipment, ensure spray nozzles are not clogged, and hoses are not crimped. Clean brushes if used.
Perform packing responsibilities as necessary, including receiving packing instructions, obtaining specification sheets or orders, and planning the manner of packing.
Check material against list, tag or mark material as required, and place or arrange material in boxes or crates.
Use floor operated overhead crane or trucks to move material, and fill boxes with proper packing material to prevent damage in shipment.
Insert blocking as needed, perform outside crating for large materials, wrap material with protective paper or apply protective compound when necessary.
Cut material to make crates, boxes, or skids if required and seal them.
Essential Skills
Experience as an industrial painter.
Experience with sanding, cleaning, and applying masking tape to surfaces.
Proficiency in mixing and thinning paint or protectants.
