Responsibilities The Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO) Leader performs at the Journeyman level in the field of expertise, and assists the Team Supervisor in the plans, lay out, assigning, and coordination of work for the Transportation Team on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. The MVO Leader works under the direct supervision of the Team Supervisor. The MVO Leader will assume limited acting supervisory responsibilities during those periods when the supervisor of the team is not present. The MVO Leader is responsible for leading a number of unrelated and related journeyman level work functions. Major Duties: Planning Assists the supervisor in establishing priorities and deadlines based on general work schedules, methods, policies, and code requirements. Coordinates projects and other work activities. Assists the supervisor in preparation of estimates and ordering of materials for constructions, maintenance, repair, or improvements to systems and structures throughout the Medical Center. Reports to the Team Supervisor regarding status and progress of work and causes of work delays. Participates in designated planning and review sessions which address organizational priorities, staffing, budgets, and operational programs. Work Direction Obtains needed information for decisions by supervisors on problems that arise during the performance of the projects. Reviews work operations and inspects completed work. Assists the supervisor in the development and evaluation of qualitative and quantitative work standards. Periodically reviews/inspects service/maintenance contract documents developed in-house or by outside firms. Administration Tracks attendance and leave usage. Advises resolution to informal employee complaints within delegated limits. Keeps abreast of policies, procedures, and management goals, and answers employee questions. Assists the supervisor in the formal evaluation/competency assessment process by providing information based on observation/experience. Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4 PM OR an AWS schedule of Monday-Friday 6:30 AM-4 PM with 1st Wednesday of the pay period off and last Friday of the pay period being 7:30 AM-4 PM AND may be required to work, nights, weekends holidays and/or overtime, due to bus schedule and emergencies, and snow removal activities, etc. NOTE: This position requires a valid State driver's license and Commercial Driver's License, Class B with "P" and air brake endorsements, and Medical Examiner's Certificate. You must submit a copy of your license & cert. Failure to do so will result in loss of consideration. Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
