This person also documents testing process and reports results. Responsibilities Support engineers and business unit teams through testing, sample preparation, and analysis of materials for water heater and water treatment applications, including: Applying coatings to components and performing corrosion testing Performing failure analysis on different materials, including coatings, metals, and plastics Performing material life testing under different conditions Set up, monitor, and tear down lab equipment for tests and experiments in an efficient and accurate manner. Work with engineers and other technicians to develop improved testing and experimental processes and methods. Write reports to document testing setup and results, and to update personnel on equipment, laboratory, or project status. Inventory, order, store, and distribute material, laboratory supplies, and equipment spare parts. Maintain a safe and clean workspace Keeping abreast with advances in materials analysis techniques and industry standards Support laboratory staff in other labs as needed Role Specific Responsibilities Qualifications AAS or BS degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Materials Engineering or related field preferred, or 1 year of previous laboratory experience An aptitude for and interest in hands-on work of a highly detailed nature Demonstrated knowledge of how to use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment used in the area Working knowledge of laboratory safety practices Conscientious & dependable, with the ability to work on small teams as well as independently.
