Johnson Controls Lead Mechanical Engineer, HVAC Controls System Products (onsite) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

What you will do

Johnson Controls is seeking a motivated and passionate Lead Mechanical Engineer that can modernize our broad portfolio of electro-mechanical control products that are used in commercial HVAC & Refrigeration systems. Help us transform our operating model and be involved in new product development projects that are transformative within higher level systems, as well as sustaining engineering efforts for existing products to optimize manufacturing operations! This position is onsite at our corporate facility located in Glendale, WI, which means the selected candidate must be commuting distance, or open to relocation. Johnson Controls offers a variety of relocation packages!

How you will do it

  • The Lead Mechanical Engineer is part of a team that designs and supports a variety of electromechanical control products including control valves, electronic actuators, sensors, refrigeration controls, and pneumatic control devices.

  • Responsibilities span from product architectures and system design to detailed engineering design and analysis.

  • Participate in long range strategic planning of the portfolio – staying current on industry trends, competitive products, industry regulations, adjacent industries and evolving technology to influence roadmap.

  • Develop technical strategies to modernize legacy products.

  • Work with product management and engineering teams to develop and maintain product and technology roadmaps.

  • Collaborate across the broader organization (including other business units) to maintain alignment with shared strategic initiatives.

  • Lead product design reviews and design for manufacturing reviews.

  • H elp develop and maintain relationships with strategic Contract Mfg., ODM, JDM, OEM partners.

  • Champion continuous improvement programs

What you will needRequired

  • BS degree in Eng. (ME, EE).

  • 12+ years of experience in the design and development of related products.

  • Experience mentoring/training junior engineers and reinforce engineering design practices.

  • Strong technical background in design and development of electromechanical products with the ability to formulate system level solutions that represent tangible business opportunities.

  • Strong business acumen and strong interpersonal skills in order to influence and provide leadership both with engineering development teams and with product and business leaders

  • Creative thinker with the ability to extrapolate concepts and extend the vision for technology to form innovative solutions

  • Demonstrated success leading technical initiatives

  • Strong knowledge of the manufacturing technologies & equipment used in the design and testing for electromechanical products.

  • Willing to travel to suppliers, customer sites and other engineering centers globally
