JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs to join our Multicultural Affairs team. The Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs will work closely with the Director to develop, coordinate, and continuously improve opportunities for international and cross-cultural short-term, long-term and academic exchange experiences, as well as provide opportunities for on-campus cross-cultural engagement and awareness. The Coordinator will also work with the Director to provide international student services & support. Essential Job Functions Global Opportunities Provide insight and support to develop meaningful study abroad experiences that will positively impact participants. Coordinate student travel needs including visas, tickets, insurance, etc. Effectively communicate with students in each stage of the travel process. Keep track of study abroad involvement and development. Assess overarching and country-specific health and safety concerns. Develop and manage productive relationships with the MSOE community, study abroad receiving and exchange institutions and other third-party organizations that help to coordinate and promote global opportunities. Work in conjunction with Student Affairs and Academics to support co-curricular efforts on campus, bringing in a global perspective to develop these learning experiences. Provide outreach to the campus community regarding MSOE\'s current global opportunities. Help create a long-term vision for the development of global opportunity programs that fits into the university goals. Update campus policies on university travel as needed. Coordinate with faculty members to align curricula and credit transfers. Continuously assess university needs and global trends for program improvement. International Student Services Provide aspects of advising to support compliance with federal regulations for F and J visas. This includes maintaining in-depth, advanced knowledge to interpret and provide guidance on federal immigration regulations; independently advising students and recommending solutions to visa, enrollment, and employment issues related to the immigration status of the student. Assist international students in their acclimation to US cultures and customs by providing support with issues related to US classroom norms and expectations, housing, healthcare resources and insurance, being engaged with other students on campus, etc. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Serve on the Faculty/Staff Diversity Council to help facilitate a more equitable campus community. Help support and facilitate a Student Diversity Council. Create, coordinate, and oversee the planning and facilitation of diverse programming initiatives that enhance student engagement and foster an inclusive campus community.
