MILWAUKEE COUNTY TRANSIT SYSTEM C Bus Mechanic in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB SUMMARY: This position repairs transit vehicles and services vehicles on the road and in the Garages. The \"C\" Mechanic makes quality repairs within established time standards and with minimal supervision. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Replace windows. Disassemble foundation brakes. Remove and replace all suspension components. Remove and replace drive shafts, steering drive shafts and propeller shafts. Remove and replace all fluid filters and air filters. Remove and replace axle shafts. Remove and replace air valves and air components. Remove and replace electrical units to include, but not limited to: Starters, heaters and A/C motors, diversion pumps, marker and headlights. Minor servicing of Garage tools. Clean, service and inspect all accessible related equipment/components. Use Oxy-Acetylene torches for welding and cutting. Assist on all Garage bus inspections, using Company developed procedures. Provide relief clerking and dispatching. Perform road tests on all transit system vehicles. Operate all types of snow removal equipment in yard and sidewalk areas. Direct the work of lower classified employees. Perform other duties as assigned, including any work as outlined for lower classifications. *Please visit our Careers site for full job description details: www.ridemcts.com/careers ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Class \"B\" Wisconsin Commercial Driver\'s License with a \"P\" endorsement and no air brake restriction. Must pass preemployment test(s) for the position. Must possess a complete complement of personal tools required to perform this position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to perform all required duties with minimal supervision. Ability to meet and communicate effectively with people at all levels. Must be punctual and alert. Good judgement and common sense with ability to adapt to various situations. Ability to maintain records in a neat, accurate and legible manner. Must be neatly dressed in Company uniform. Maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by MTS. MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK CONDITIONS: Must be able to wear OSHA approved safety glasses and hearing protection for an eight-hour shift. Must be able to stand, stoop, reach to 82 inches in height, bend, twist and walk for an eight-hour shift. Must be able to grasp with both hands, twist both wrists and use both arms to push, pull, hold and carry items for an eight-hour shift. Must be able to lift and/or pull 75 lbs. from a standing position from the ground to shoulder height at a minimum of four times per hour for an eight-hour shift.
