The division is home to 26 Worship and Community Centers (Corps), 67 service extension units, a camp, as well as multiple homeless shelters, thrift stores and food pantries. Service extension units are branches of The Salvation Army in communities where Corps are not located but service is provided by committees of volunteers. The Assistant Service Extension Director gives direction to designated Service Extension programs and staff, promotes growth, and ensures services align with the Mission Statement, with an additional responsibility of providing Service Rep. duties for specific counties. About the role: Provides direction and goal orientation for designated programs and staff, including communication with and training of the Service Extension staff and volunteers to maintain and strengthen the program and provide an open policy of consultation. Works with Executive Director to create an annual Budget. Provides leadership and mentoring of designated staff in such a way as to impart a clear vision and provide effective communication, resulting in a team environment to carry out Departmental and organizational objectives. Holds regular departmental meetings for designate staff development and team building. Involved in planning for special projects as well as daily emergency assistance in designated areas, and keeps the Executive Director advised of its status. Works with Executive Director on United Way funding proposals and prepares the financial figures for them. Trains staff to understand and present United Way budget proposals in their respective areas.
