Xylem Unit Supervisor I in Milpitas, California

Main Tasks

  • Oversee the manufacturing operations performed during the shift ensuring that volume, quality and cost measure are achieved in accordance with the production schedule.

  • Ensure the safe operation of plant and equipment in accordance with regulatory and company guidelines.

  • Responsible for the Windsor site outside of normal business hours including Incident reporting and response and all loss prevention activities regarding safety, security, and environment.

  • Liaise and co-ordinate (as required) with maintenance to minimise down-time due to plant failure. Supervise technicians and contractors (labour hire personnel) to ensure manning levels are sufficient to meet production schedule requirements.

  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained and improved regularly and that all incidents are reported and investigated.

  • Monitor and approve timesheets and overtime in accordance with budgetary requirements.

  • Work closely with the Continuous Improvement Manager, utilise LEAN principles to identify and implement improvement strategies targeted at yield improvement, inventory reduction and productivity increases.

  • Monitor work processes to maximise yield and minimise losses due to defective product/components. Oversee the introduction of new policies and procedures across the shift and liaise with key stakeholders for additional support.

  • •Run daily toolbox meeting prior to the commencement of shift to ensure all corporate communications, safety messages and production updates are communicated.

  • Participate in incident investigations as required and act in the capacity of emergency management co-ordinator when on night shift.

  • Maintain visual presence across all work areas and ensure communication flow across departments is maintained to achieve shift targets.

  • Identify inventory required to meet weekly production schedule and ensure materials are managed to allow for easy retrieval.

  • Participate and/or facilitate audits of the production process to ensure uniformity and compliance with manufacturing policies and procedures.

  • Work closely with the inventory control and participate in WIP cycle counts and shop order closes to allow for inventory reconciliation and participate in the investigation of any identified variances. Ensures planned KPI's are met or exceeded.

  • Ensures the implementation and evolution of safety procedures, compliance to prescribed OHS legislation and that health and safety guidelines are met.

  • Provides coaching, development and on the job training of employees to meet business objectives Co-ordinates, creates, and implements standard work instructions as required

  • Consults with the Production Manager and other supervisors on the planning of maintenance, hours of operations and resources to ensure plant optimisation.

  • Where appropriate some SAP transactions and reporting generation are to be performed relevant to inventory and shopfloor activities.

  • Maintains daily shift log and provides comprehensive handover at the end of each shift.

  • Cooperate with Evoqua in fulfilling its Duty of Care and making sure there is compliance with health & safety/environment legislation.

  • Adhere to all safe working procedures and use equipment in accordance with instructions

  • Compliance with all relevant legislation and standards

  • Contribution towards a work environment that is healthy and safe

  • Proactive in ensuring safe work practices are observed by our co-workers, sub-contractors and customer personal

  • Encouraging staff to participate in the development of safe work practices

  • Reporting of hazards, near miss, incidents and implementing control measures

  • Contribute to an environment which supports equity and diversity

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in a technical discipline preferred.

  • Business or Management qualification preferred

  • Lean Certification or equivalent preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years in Leadership / Management in a similar role

  • 5+ years as a sole trader desirable

  • Ability to show leadership skills with measurable outcomes

Salary range:

$81,000.00 - $146,000.00
